Perched on a canyon rim, Hovenweep Castle was built by Ancestral Puebloans who once numbered more than 2,500 in this remote Four Corners setting. Protecting six prehistoric villages, the monument invites visitors to admire, not touch, the handiwork of the stone masons who erected most of the site’s structures before 1300 A.D.
