Before he was a general and president, Ulysses S. Grant was a farmer at White Haven, the childhood home of Julia Dent, whom Grant courted in 1844 while stationed in St. Louis. The married couple later lived at White Haven during the 1850s. Visitors today tour the house and view other historic structures while learning about Grant's remarkable life.
