This lone sandstone outcropping towers over the Yellowstone River in south central Montana along the banks at an advantageous natural ford. A silent witness to over 11,000 years of human occupation, today it bears inscriptions and petroglyphs of centuries of peoples, including Captain Clark during his expedition in 1806.
