A good-sized ship could pass through the Grand Portal’s arch prior to a pair of 19th-century rock collapses. The span still is an iconic feature below the highest point along this scenic shoreline. Boaters and paddlers enjoy up-close views of the Grand Portal while North Country Trail hikers marvel at superior views along the lakeshore.
