Top scientists moved to Los Alamos to secretly design, build, and test atomic weapons. This effort culminated in the detonation of the “Gadget” at the Trinity Site 200 miles away in 1945. Main Gate Park, Ashley Pond, and Ice House are among the accessible sites, though guided tours are required for others including Battleship Bunker.
