Construction of the country’s tallest Capitol concluded in 1931 with 34-stories rising 450-feet high. The limestone Art Deco structure includes a 2-story Memorial Hall featuring a 3,290-pound bronze relief map of the Pelican State listing each parish and major state industries. Within the 27-acre grounds of this National Historic Landmark are gardens of magnolias, azaleas, junipers, and oak trees.
