Established by President Franklin Roosevelt to protect its moose, this Kenai Peninsula preserves diverse habitats support rich populations of mammals, birds and fish. Home to alpine tundra, glaciers, boreal forest, wetlands, lakes and rivers, the refuge often is referred to as "Alaska in miniature." Visitors enjoy wildlife viewing, camping, hiking, paddling, hunting and world-class fishing.
