Descending about 4,500 feet to canyon rock that may be almost two billion years old, this steep 7.8-mile trail is a classic rim-to-river adventure. Rest houses and a pause at lush Havasupai Gardens offer relief to hikers navigating the numerous switchbacks to and from the Colorado River. Trail tip: The mule riders have the right-of -way.
