Planning a trip? Check out the Fort Union National Monument website.
From 1851 to 1891, Fort Union was one of the more important military and supply outposts along the Santa Fe Trail. Rail tracks bypassed the adobe complex, which fell into disrepair and later re-emerged as a must-see Southwestern historic property. Visitors tour the fort remnants and gaze at the starry heavens through a telescope during ranger-led night sky programs.
