Located on the National Mall, this 50-acre park was once hidden below the Potomac River. Dredged by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, President Nixon would direct the creation of the park surrounded by monuments honoring U.S. veterans and historic legacies. A walking path traces the lake’s shoreline and leads to a small island and memorial honoring the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.
