Water is everywhere in this Piney Woods preserve, a mecca for anglers, boaters and paddlers. Especially popular are ranger-led canoe tours of the waterways. Hiking trails lead through diverse natural communities where Western and Midwestern plant species mingle. Springtime bird watching is excellent, and American alligators can be spotted in the swamps and marshes.
