Moose sightings and autumn colors are just two reasons people visit this sprawling New England wilderness. The park’s crown jewel is 5,267-foot Mount Katahdin. Maine’s
highest summit is ascended by technical and nontechnical routes. Hikers walk along more than 200 miles of trails while paddlers float on scenic lakes and streams. Winter snows invite exploration by cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
