This red-and-white striped lighthouse sits atop a 22-foot bluff on Assateague Island. The boundaries of the barrier island shifted since the light’s construction in 1867, and although it no longer sits on the southernmost end, it still is an active navigational aid with twin rotating lights that serve to protect those traveling along the Atlantic Coast.
