This breathtaking “staircase” of cliffs and plateaus is one of the Lower 48’s more remote wilderness gems. Visitors marvel at its canyons, arches, natural bridges, waterfalls and the gorge carved by the Escalante River. Landscapes once roamed by dinosaurs are also home to rock art and ruins left behind by ancient Anasazi and Fremont cultures.
