Opened in 1889, this railroad bridge linking Poughkeepsie and Highland has been repurposed, today it carries walkers, joggers, and bicyclists 1.28 miles across the Hudson River. After sitting abandoned for years, the span was converted into the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge. Visitors admire views from a height of 212 feet above the river.
