Rising to a height of 2,250 feet above the Gunnison River, the park's Painted Wall is the tallest single vertical rock cliff in Colorado. Pinkish-white veins of igneous rock permeate the massive metamorphic rock formation viewed from a popular park overlook. The sheer walls of this two-million-year-old chasm seemingly change color by the minute as the sun tracks across the sky.
