A 1.4 million pound rock of hematite, silica, gravel, and coarse sand rests precariously along the driving loop near the park’s southern entrance. It rises 35 feet above its base and features varying hues of red-orange color. The formation is a result of geological upheaval millions of years ago and erosion from glaciers, wind, rivers, and rain.
